NEW STUFF! (finally)

So here's some new stuff to take a gander at!

Here's a piece I did for Toronto's Eye Weekly in late October for an article about gratuitous sex in horror films of late.

Starting to think monochromatic looks great with my stuff, so I think I'll use it more!

Cute girl with a cuppa coffee!

And here's a wedding present I did for Miss Amanda and Blake!

Fan Expo: Dr. Frankenfurter

I'm so hot for Tim Curry.

Portrait o' John: Amanda

This is my friend John, he makes the most incredible music you could ever put into your faceholes. If you'd like to have your mind blown, you can go like him here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Primatus/28261532129

This painting took wayyyy too long, but John was awesome at posing for reference pictures, haha. Please click on the picture to see John with both his hands intact :)

Steampunk: Amanda

I know that everyone and their mother has jumped on the steampunk bandwagon, but I really like the brass colour and gears, damn it. Also, hi, I died for awhile!

My half of an art swap with Bryan Heemskerk. He punches bears for a living. True facts.

Fan Expo: Peach

As with many people on this blog, I am quietly panicking about the approach of Fan Expo. However, it does mean that I can post this "official portrait".

Beatles: Elizabeth

Ahh... look at all the lonely people.

The picture above was so unrelentingly grim that I have also seen fit to provide you with a bonus image: Eleanor Rigby, now in trashy paperback!

Theology: Taryn

So, for theology week I choose to do Starbuck (Kara Thrace) from the new Battlestar Galactica because of her importance in the series. Battlestar Galactica makes me melt, especially Kara's progression through the show. Behind her is the Eye of Jupiter!

I'm trying not to spoil too much. Just watch it! It's a horrifying struggle to watch through most of the third season, but the season finale is totally worth all of the suffering.

Theology: Amanda

I copied Liz :D ... I guess that sort of turns this week into mythology week, but shh. Persephone and Hades, because I feel for the girl always getting the raw end of the deal. The way mine ends is with a sexy Hades who is totes okay with Persephone staying or leaving. She's contemplating eating the pomengranate seed or not. I think probably the fact that Hades has sweet hangouts and looks good in a gothboy skirt may be deciding factors.

Theology: Elizabeth

Well, okay, it doesn't contain any actual gods and goddesses, but here's some mythology, at any rate. Cupid and Psyche:

It's come to my attention that there are people trolling our blog for the purpose of leaving nasty comments. From this point forward, those comments will simply be removed.

This blog is supposed to be a fun project between a few friends, and people whose sole mission in life is to leave pointlessly venomous remarks on the internet really crap on that.

Digitally remastered edition: Amanda

This is the original, which was done approximately seven years ago. Now, I could have easily punched this version in the face with my tablet, but I decided to do it in Impossible Mode. Meaning, I picked up the same medium and music I used to create the first one. In laymen's terms, I listened to Blink 182 and calloused my hand to hell and back with colouring pencils. The result is my realization that pencil crayons don't like to be scanned:

Pfffffffft, I am tired. No more colouring pencils. It looks great in person, but this makes me sad.

Digitally Remastered Edition: Taryn

Well, this image I did when I was 15 (or possibly 14) and I find it hilarious. It was supposed to be a self portrait representing how we are on the inside, project ourselves and how other people see ourselves. I won't explain it further because of all the retarded interpretations, but I will just point out three things:

1. She's actually upside down, the sand at the top is the Earth!

2. I used real sand that I stole from the school's long jump... thing.

3. The beavers that look like squirrels. Note the one on the swing, it says, "ANNOYING PEOPLE".

For the revision, I decided that being upside down, using real sand and being eaten by beavers was way too much.

Fantasy Geek Week: Elizabeth

For this piece, I went back in time and asked my thirteen year old self what she wanted to draw.

Fantasy Geek Week - Amanda

My post finished off last week's theme, so I am pleased that I'm also kicking off this week's theme posts. Fantasy Geek Week!

Fun fact: this was done entirely while listening to musicals. You are super jealous.

Tea Party Week: Elizabeth

Day 12: I am adapting to life in the antarctic very well, but still miss the comforts of home. Mr. and Mrs. Worthington were very polite about it, but I fear our tea party was a bust.

Tea Party Week: Amanda

Sweet, I'm totally first poster for the Tea Party theme.

Nothing much here, y'know, same old same old. Who hasn't had a radioactive tea party wearing gas masks during the apocalypse?

Speaking of old, though, this is actually a re-make of an old drawing of mine (http://agreatadventure.deviantart.com/gallery/#/dw9tew). I had an art block prior to this, so I figured a re-make might get me on the right track.

xoxo Amanda

Kaytlyn

Kaytlyn Wismayer is a recent graduate of Sheridan College's Illustration program. Not only is she skilled with a paint brush, but she also has strong skills in graphic design as well. This lovely lady is even starting up her own stationary business. When she's not running after her chocolate Labrador, Mika, or chasing down her kitty, Zephyr, for a hug, she can be found on the couch catching up on House M.D. or Glee.

Lauren!

Lauren is a recent graduate of Sheridan Institute having deservedly attained her BAA in illustration. Not only is she a talented artist, but she is also an effervescent CatMaster. She is depicted here in her natural environment - wrangling cats - in this case, the infamous and plump (but somehow evasive) "Mittens." Lauren likes singing to/about Deena, drinking alcohol, and racing robot unicorns through star-clad skies. Her portrait was illustrated by Kaytlyn Wismayer.

Amanda's amazing!

Amanda loves ketchup. She also loves breakfast, make-up, music, video games and shoes. Amanda recently graduated from Sheridan College's Illustration program and is currently in Ottawa with her fiancée. She's a very strong and hardworking person who doesn't tolerate bullshit and doesn't like children.

Here I (Taryn) present to you the romance between Amanda and Heinz Ketchup.

Deena rocks my face right off.

Deena is, first and foremost, part lion. When her lioness duties are taken care of, she excels in the art field, holding two degrees (BFA and BAA). She enjoys sequins, showtunes, muppets, and probably knows more than everyone you know combined about every movie ever made. This particular Deena was drawn by Amanda Sheehan, who Deena loves with all her heart.

Taryn is so cool, you have no idea

Taryn is twenty one years old and going into her final year in Illustration at Sheridan College. She likes food, Star Wars, and Nicholas Cage. She is allergic to apples, pears, cherries, almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts, peaches, bananas, kiwi fruit, carrots, peas, celery, cucumber, and tomatoes.

This portrait was painted by Elizabeth, who has tried to poison Taryn with at least one of the aforementioned foods, but loves her anyway.
